From my point of view, it's more personnalised. Everybody work in his/its rhythms. and you can adapt your course on the level of the student. In several english class in company they use this technic it reduce transportation's cost and time wich is money to. We can invite a teacher on line when we wan't.
I think "personnalisation" is the furture of all markets.

I have a PDA. I watch some music show recorded on tv. So I think it 's quite the same thing. I can dowload podcast as the same way to learn English !i think that is easier for blind personne.
I think doing podcast could be interesting for shy person or future journalist to practice. But I 'm not sure that everybody has intelligent thing to say, and have the right pitch, and enough creativity to be good.

I think that the company which do that caniblabize their market because if they have shoop/mortar they're going to have less client customer on their store. But also in a few time they are going to reduce their cost of Human ressources, stock, and the price of their products could be lower so everybody could have a benefit of this evolution. (if they still have a job !)
They destroy also their value chain (no more intermediary), treat their assets as liabilities( like their store). They replace rude interfaces with learning interfaces (we don't have to spend time in store). They ensure continuity for the customer(they can say what you buy, where is the product...)
but last week I had bought someting to my computer and it didn't work. So I have to send the product. I 've bought by internet to be more quiet but in fact it's worse !

I found it on a american web site. It deals wiht salsa. It's a video to learn salsa. It isn't like LSL or radio france podcast, but my partner ensured me that is was a podcast...
